FAQs

Below is a list of commonly asked questions regarding notarial services.

What is a notary?

A notary is appointed by their respective State to serve the public as an impartial witness to a signing.

Can notaries give legal advice?

No; unless the notary is also an attorney licensed in the State of Georgia.

  • Make sure the document is complete; no blank spaces other than those required for the date and signature of the signer(s) and the notary.
  • Pay notary fees.
  • Sign document(s).

I don’t have my physical ID, can I use a photocopy or screenshot?

No.

Can a notary notarize copies of marriage or birth certificates?

No. Certified copies of vital records must be obtained from the issuing authority.
